The Stockman will bring a hotel and residences, along with a spa and three culinary venues, to Steamboat Springs, as the hospitality brand expands its alpine footprint.

Dive Brief:

  • Auberge Collection will bring a new luxury hotel and residential concept to Steamboat Springs, Colorado, breaking ground later this year on The Stockman, the hospitality brand announced Friday.
  • The ski-in, ski-out resort at the base of Steamboat Resort will offer 59 guest rooms and suites as well as 95 private “ultra-luxury” residences, according to a release. Stockman Development LLC, led by Chicago-based Marquee Development, is developing the project.
  • The Stockman expands Auberge Collection’s alpine footprint, which spans several other Colorado mountain destinations, as luxury travelers increasingly seek immersive experiences.

Dive Insight:

With The Stockman, Auberge Collection enters a market that “has long been a beloved mountain destination and an essential part of the region’s rich heritage,” CEO Christian Clerc said in the release.

Designed by Denver-based OZ Architecture, with interiors by Dallas-based Nunzio Marc DeSantis Architects, The Stockman’s guest rooms will include handcrafted furniture. The one- to five-bedroom residences, meanwhile, will “embrace a contemporary interpretation of Steamboat’s Western heritage, blending refined mountain architecture with Auberge Collection’s personalized service and sense of place,” according to the company.

Slated to open in 2030, the resort will be home to three culinary venues, including a signature destination restaurant, an après bar with an outdoor ski-up deck and an intimate bar concept serving craft cocktails. All of the venues will have outdoor patios and al fresco seating.

The Stockman will also introduce a Wellbeing by Auberge concept with a full-service spa and pool. The wellness center will offer a thermal bathing experience, which the brand describes as a “sensory journey of heat, water, herbs, and contrast designed to restore energy and encourage social connection.”

Guests will also have access to one-of-a-kind experiences, including ski-butler service, per the release.

Auberge Collection is among luxury competitors expanding to top ski destinations as travelers seek unique experiences and outdoor connection. Earlier this year, Hilton announced a luxury Waldorf Astoria hotel and residential property at Utah’s popular Deer Valley Resort, and Hyatt unveiled an Andaz hotel and residential concept coming to Utah’s Heber Valley, representing the brand’s first mountain destination.

Auberge Collection currently operates resorts across Colorado in Telluride and Aspen as well as at Deer Valley and Park City in Utah.
